Find and track 1000s of opera auditions and vocal competitions

In June and July 2025, Opera North offers three imaginative productions with orchestra — Rachel Portman’s The Little Prince, Mozart’s Le Nozze di Figaro, and Leigh's Man of La Mancha — performed at our outdoor home, the stunning Blow-Me-Down Farm in Cornish, NH. These productions feature our Resident Artists in all roles whenever possible.     Reviewers called last season's productions "unlimited fun" and "beautifully sung," and noted "fine voices and orchestra, expertly conducted by Louis Burkot, Opera North's long-time Artistic Director.   Opera North offers both in-person in Boston, Chicago, Bloomington, Dallas, New York City, and Atlanta as well as virtual auditions. USUO proudly supports Resident Artist singers and pianists with an integral step between graduate studies and a career. Participants spend nine months from September to May developing professional skills through mainstage performances with USUO, expert coachings, workshops, and masterclass sessions.  The USUO Resident Artists are the primary, in-person ambassadors for opera and artistry in many of our local communities, but most particularly among Utah’s K-12 schools.  Each individual should expect to share their talent with USUO’s staff, board, and donors as well as Utah’s most diverse audiences as they travel around our beautiful state.

The Verbier Festival Academy’s Atelier Lyrique stands out among professional training programmes by offering a unique blend of opera role and song repertoire studies in a supportive and inspiring environment during an intensive three-week summer programme in the Swiss alps. Singers benefit from the opportunity to perform and form valuable connections as part of the Verbier Festival. The Atelier's featured opera in 2025 will be Tchaikovsky's Eugene Onegin.

There’s still time to enter! Deadline October 31, 2024: For over a decade participants and winners of the John Alexander National Vocal Competition have gone to enjoy successful careers in opera and musical theatre. It’s a chance to sing for some of the leading casting and stage directors, win cash prizes, and build relationships that will last a lifetime. Eight finalists will be chosen from virtual auditions, and invited to perform at the “Vibrations” The John Alexander National Vocal Competition Winners Concert on February 2, 2025 in Jackson, MS. Final prizes and placements will be announced at the concert. Monetary prizes for First Place are $1,200, Second Place $900. Housing and travel to and from Jackson covered by Opera Mississippi.

Applications are open for Mascarade Opera, an opera training and performance programme at the Mascarade Opera Foundation in Florence, Italy for exceptionally talented young singers and répétiteurs. Training provision is carefully structured around performance opportunities; through the programme's collaborations with major operatic houses across Europe, artists enjoy the unique prospect of translating what they have learnt into professional practice on stage. Places on the programme are entirely funded with artists receiving tuition, maintenance and accommodation grants equivalent to entry-level salaried positions in the industry.
